Lucian was fighting his way through the guards on the ground floor as the rest made their way up. His heart pumped hard in his chest as he felt the urge to reach her. He could feel something a

happening but he wasn’t sure what.

He turned to Lyra who wasn’t far behind him, “I’m going to check the prisons down” he told her and veered off from the trail to a place he guessed his father would keep her. The hallway was silent and there were no guards.

He was just a few feet from the room when a body burst out from the side, ready to land a punch. Just before it could hit him Lucian dodged the punch and threw another of his. It was one of the more experienced guards, he had seen this man with light.

He looked him in the eyes as he dug a claw into his chest and ripped his heart out. There was no scream, no struggle - he was just gone. A few other men burst out as well and Lucian dealt with them in the same fashion.
