Chapter 10
The next morning was as beautiful as their night had been. Like their little bubble had not yet burst open. They showered together, and she helped Theo replace the dressing covering his stitches. It felt right. Real. Like this is where she was supposed to be. They made breakfast and ate outside on his elegant stone patio. The sun was shining, and the skies were blue. It was a perfect fall day. As scared as she was of the future, Kat felt ridiculously happy and at peace.
“My meeting is at eleven this morning,” Theo broke their comfortable silence while grabbing another piece of bacon from his plate.
“Are you nervous?” Kat asked, her cup of coffee warming her hands from the slight morning chill. Not that she was cold since she was bundled up and feeling quite small inside one of Theo’s huge Wolverines fleece sweaters.
