Chapter 9
When they pulled off onto a long driveway ending in front of what could only be described as a mansion, Kat tried to not let her jaw drop too low. The house was massive.
“What do you think?” Theo asked as they walked down the impeccable marble-floored hallway.
“A lot to clean,” Kat remarked carefully. She felt intimidated and had a hard time not showing it.
Theo laughed. “Somehow I knew this wouldn’t be your kind of house.”
“No, it’s beautiful,” Kat insisted. “Almost like a museum.”
“Yeah,” Theo agreed and looked around. “Exactly. That’s why I’m putting it on the market.”
“Oh,” Kat acknowledged.
“Vienna picked this house,” Theo continued. “She was pregnant, and I wanted to make her happy, so I agreed to pretty much anything she wanted.”
Kat nodded quietly.
