Chapter 13
The drive down to Savannah was uneventful for Katrina and Joey. They were lucky enough to not encounter any massive traffic delays, so after about ten hours in the car with just a couple of brief bathroom breaks, they finally arrived in Georgia. The realtor who met them at the house was a slightly plump redhead with a magnificent smile and smattering of freckles over her pert little nose. She happily showed them around the property and gave Kat the keys before departing with a wave and another glimpse of her giant friendly smile.
They unpacked the car and strolled around their little yard where a couple of peach trees grew in the sun. It was a beautiful neighborhood, and Katrina felt like this house was a place where they would be happy. A place where she could heal. They had not been there for more than an hour when a woman wearing a flowery dress peeked around the corner.
