Chapter 23. Followed
There was a total disappointment on Lacey’s face as she narrowed her gaze on Jack. “What are you doing?” her voice was distorted with anger. Jack had just ruined her moment. She had opened the door halfway and wedged it with her body. This wasn’t who she was hoping to see. “Perhaps Alex found his way to her quarters,” she thought. But disappointingly, it was just his younger brother.
“Nothing, just want to see if you’re home,” Jack squeezed out. He looked so innocent, but Lacey never trusted his innocent look. If she let her guard down, he might get away with his mischievous acts. On one occasion, Jack ruined Lacey’s chance to go out on a date from her high school. He was playing with a lighter in Lacey’s room and mistakenly set her red gown on fire.
Lacey glared. “Is that so?”
“Yes,” Jack put on a fake smile. He looked good with a fake smile and was more mischievous.
“Where’s Clara?”
“Downstairs with Auntie Monica,” Jack answered without hesitation.
