Finally, Lacey broke free from him and pushed him away. She glared at him and yelled, “Why did you do that?”
Alex smirked, but he didn’t say a word. He started licking his lips and winked at her, flashing a dazzling smile. When Alex finally decided to speak, Lacey saw his mouth about to open, but she lashed out in anger, “You know what? I don’t want to know!” She shoved past him.
He tilted back on his heels and watched as she walked away. He had enjoyed kissing her. Perhaps by kissing her, he could amplify whatever Lacey was feeling but pretending not to feel. His mind couldn’t get off her. Alex recognized her as his mate. The wolf in him longed for her, and so did he.
