Chapter 28. Mastermind
“Phew, I have no idea,” Alex said, pushing the spacebar key to continue rolling the footage.
They watched as the other man walked out of the car. He walked around the car and lowered his mask. He shook hands with his partner and sent him on his way. As he turned to walk into the post office, Alex’s eyes caught up with a strange reflection of the man’s eyes. He pushed the spacebar key, pausing the footage.
Alex and Lacey glanced at each other weirdly.
“Is that the reflection of his tapetum?” Lacey inquired.
“Yes, it is,” Alex gnawed at the bottom of his lips.
Werewolves’ eyes are different from human eyes even in their human form. They have got a third eyelid called a nictitating membrane which is a thin whitish-pink tissue protecting the eyes. This is a reflective lining behind the retina called the ‘tapetum.’
“Oh, dear!” Lacey cried out. “Werewolves behind the gang of robbery and homicide?” she asked rhetorically.
