Chapter 26. In His Arms
The occasional barking of faraway dogs broke the silence of the night. Lacey and Alex were sitting in a bar, having a good time together. It had been a long, hectic day after a series of attempts to catch up with Prof. Broody’s murderer. The clue they followed led them to an abandoned post office.
Lacey moved around, sniffing the air to catch the scent they believed belonged to the perpetrator. She also used her enhanced hearing ability. Alex joined her, sniffing the air as well. Without his werewolf gene triggered, he was left with a keen sense of smell and the ability to flash his glowing eyes.
Alex raised a bottle of beer, proposing a toast. “To our attempt in coming so close to the case together,” he said, bringing his bottle of beer closer to Lacey.
Lacey raised her bottle of beer. “Salud,” she said.
