Chapter 33
Cain pulled up in front of the warehouse. His brothers’ bikes were already scattered outside. The place was lit up now, chaos controlled but heavy in the air.
He got off without killing the engine and walked straight in. The damage immediately greeted him the moment he walked in; the broken woods, the bullet marks and holes. The smell of metal and something darker underneath.
His eyes arrayed over the place, taking it all in. Two of the men walked past him with Jay being carried out, their clothes stained with his blood. Too much of it.
Cain stopped. For a second too long. The memory overlapped; Eli on the floor, blood the same shade, same stillness creeping in. His jaw tightened. His hand flexed once at his side.
“Cain.” Vic walked over to him when he saw that he had arrived.
He didn’t wait. He grabbed Cain by the arm and pulled him away from the others, deeper into the corner where no one else could hear.
