Cain has managed to find a cab but its driver wouldn’t agree to go in the direction of where she lived even after he offered to pay extra so he took the cab to his place instead.
By the time the cab stopped in front of his place, Liana hadn’t stirred once. Her head rested loosely against his shoulder, her breathing slow and uneven in that way that told him she was completely gone for the night.
He paid the driver quickly and stepped out, shifting her weight slightly in his arms before heading inside.
The place was quiet like It always was. He kicked the door shut behind him and moved further in, his boots echoing faintly against the floor as he carried her toward the couch first. He set her purse down there without much thought, letting it fall into the cushions before he took her to his room.
