Chapter 61
Keith’s body jerked violently before going slack, his head falling forward at an unnatural angle. That was when Cain stopped. Keith still made some wet, uneven choking, like his body hadn’t quite realized it was done yet.
Cain stayed where he was, chest rising and falling hard, breath coming out in rough bursts. His hand was still clenched around the screwdriver, his knuckles pale and Keith’s blood running down along his wrist.
Then silence followed. Heavy, thick, overwhelming silence. Jerry shuddered at the sight of it. He felt it crawl over his skin, goosebumps breaking out across his arms as he stared, unable to look away. His stomach twisted, and his throat tightened almost at the same time making his breathing shallow. It felt like if he took a full breath, he might throw up.
At the back, Jay and Vic exchanged a look before rushing forward the moment they heard Keith choking on his own blood.
“Cain!” Jay barked, rushing to him late just after he was done
