“What does the text say?” Ashley asked, pulling the phone from my hand.
“Who does he think he is? I’m going to make sure he rots in jail for this. He’s stalking you and not to mention assault. Look at your ankle,” she pointed to the cast on my leg as I folded my arms.
She picked up her phone and dialed the emergency line.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“I’m calling the police and maybe someone to check this house for cameras,” she answered, still dialing.
“Don’t, Ash, don’t,” I insisted, trying to get to where she was, holding her phone as she dialed frantically.
“Why? You can clearly see what he’s doing to you. I know he looks like a mythical creature from wherever, but it doesn’t excuse his behavior,” she said.
She wasn’t wrong. I couldn’t excuse his behavior, but that wasn’t what I was doing. I was just trying to make sure she didn’t make a mistake and get him angry. It’s bad enough that he’s done that to Declan and threate
