“Charles, don’t,” I held onto his wrist after he had punched Mr. Darcy. The man held onto his face—I was sure that would teach him a sweet lesson.
“That wasn’t necessary.” I pulled on his arm, staring at him softly as he panted.
Yes, it’s necessary. That punch has to reset some things in that idiot’s brain.
“You’ll pay for this,” Mr. Darcy said as he held the side of his face, running out of the building.
The scene had just sparked both anxiety and respect in me and my staff. I could see it on their faces as they smiled while he held his face.
“Come with me.” I grabbed his wrist and took him out back.
“Why did you do that?” I asked, feigning anger.
“I couldn’t let him disrespect you like that. I couldn’t watch that happen,” he said, his gaze low and soft.
