Chapter 62. Delusion
Rose’s POV
Everything seemed tense in the mansion. It was clear that Nathaniel didn’t trust me anymore. I felt sad that all of this sudden distance was happening immediately after Kael’s writing lessons. Kael had learned very fast, and he could draw and write some letters.
Nathaniel had become distant suddenly. I thought we were getting close… or so. We had shared many more nights after that day. Whenever I was at Kael’s in the evenings, he would join us, and we would stay there, watching him fall asleep. Sometimes, Nathan would read him stories until he was asleep, and as I watched him care for his son so much, I fell for him.
Our eyes met on several occasions, but when they did, he would suddenly look away as though he was scared of… of looking. There was something about him that was unusual. He didn’t want to talk about any other thing aside from Kael’s learning. He didn’t mind listening to me talk about myself. I had told him everything there was to know
