Chapter 10
“Don’t be mad at me, okay? Promise?” Emily said, and Tom was growing impatient. “I’ll be mad at you if you do something stupid again,” Tom warned, and everyone nearby turned their attention to him. He cleared his throat and lowered his voice.
“Tell me, I might not be mad at you,” he said, and Emily sniffed as if she were crying.
“Dad, I went out with my friends, and we accidentally spent over budget. Now we’re stranded,” Emily explained, and Tom sighed.
‘Not too bad,’ he thought to himself before asking for the amount. “How much are we talking about?” Tom asked, and Emily was silent for a few moments before responding.
“Dad, it’s just five hundred dollars,” Emily said, stammering, and Tom was shocked.
“What on earth is wrong with you, girl? Something like five hundred dollars. Where am I supposed to get that?” Tom exclaimed, and he couldn’t help but kick the car tire repeatedly.
“Dad, I’m sorry. We really need your help!” Emily said, and Tom laugh
