Chapter 15

She averted his hand and walked straight to the ward; she tried opening the door, but it was locked. She looked at Tom and rushed to the opposite door, and tried it. Unfortunately, it was the same result. Martinez looked at Tom, and Tom gave a slight nod, and Martinez briefly understood what the nod meant.

“No, no!” Martinez said slowly and walked back to Jane’s ward door and knocked softly. And with time, it grew stronger, harder, and louder; she began to yell.

“Jane, open this door! Sister, open this door!” Martinez kept yelling until Tom walked to her and held her closer.

“Calm down, Martinez, you need to be strong,” Tom said, and Martinez pushed him away and knocked twice on the door before falling to her knees.

“All she wanted was just to make her old hag mother proud of her; she even risked her life for this. I have always told her she is the best, but she just wouldn’t believe me. All she wanted was to make that woman love her like she loved her elder
