Chapter 40. Mr. Gavin
Avery’s POV
I am initially confused, but a group of people walking towards us catches my attention. A dark-haired middle-aged man wearing a handwoven cloth around his torso leads the group, and he has a big smile on his face.
“Welcome, Mr. Lorenzo. I am honored to host you in this humble abode of mine.” He says stretching his hand for a handshake, which Ethan accepts with a smile. “This is my daughter, Vanessa.” The man continues, pulling a young girl of about nineteen towards Ethan.
Dressed in traditional clothing that exposes her waist, she has very curly, knee-length dark hair with big brown eyes, and a shy smile is on her full pink lips.
“Hello, I am Vanessa.” She says to Ethan, a small tint of pink appearing on her cheeks.
A small feeling of indignation spreads in my chest as I notice the way the father and daughter ignore me. It was as if I were not standing beside Ethan.
