Chapter 37. Big Sister
A while after the soldiers were done packing up their belongings, Moriah joined me in the carriage. She sat beside me quietly and didn’t say a word until the troop started to move.
“Those men had families waiting for them back at Valtoria,” I said softly, staring at the floor in the carriage.
“That doesn’t matter, Selwyn. They knew the laws when they broke them, and they’ve paid the price for it,” Moriah replied.
After a moment of silence, she turned to me and asked with an upset tone. “And what were you doing outside? I thought I ordered you to remain in the tent till I return. If the Prince had heard your voice, he would have counted you among those men.”
