Heather blinked, licked her lips, and quickly righted herself.
He didn’t seem to remember her, and even if he did, he didn’t bother to show it.
She shook her head softly as though underwater, clearing her mind.
Right now, she needed to focus.
There was a time and place for losing oneself at the sight of a long-lost love, but the middle of the biggest business deal she’d headed in years was not the place to do it.
Someone cleared their throat.
Heather snapped back into action with a smile. In Veronica’s two sizes too small shoes, she jumped into the meeting.
“As we all know, this project is an awareness campaign for Bakerz, the confectionery store we all love to patronize. Its aim is to remind customers that this is still the place to get whatever pastries they crave, and we hope to achieve that through various activation methods.”
She paused long enough to pass along a file to both Xavier and I
