Chapter 8
Heather got up and rubbed at the stray tears that had fallen down her face.
She was still sad but put on a brave face and stepped out of the room.
She was met with just Zac and looked around, wondering where everyone had gone.
“Ian and Becky went out somewhere I didn’t bother to find out where, and Anna went back to her room,” he said without looking up from his phone.
It was almost as if he was mad at her.
She gingerly sat on the far side of the couch.
He shut his eyes, so she used the opportunity to stare at him. His aura seemed fiercer, his masculinity more potent.
She was used to the friendly guy persona he’d always portrayed, and this sudden toughness came as a shock.
She was still trailing her eyes over his lean body when his eyes snapped open, and she stopped in her tracks, surprised.
The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife, but Heather didn’t understand it.
That’s when she realized she was waiting for
