Chapter 48. The Incident

Genevieve’s POV

I headed back to the farm after Audrey’s arrival. The vibe I was getting from her was not encouraging, and I felt like if I had stayed any longer, she would have created a scene. I didn’t want any unnecessary attention.

"Gen, are you okay now? You looked so pale earlier. I was worried you were sick," Jade said as they both approached me immediately. They saw me coming.

"I’m fine," I replied with a smile.

"That’s a relief. You gave us quite a scare. Never do that again," Andrea said, as they both pulled me into a tight hug.

"I told you I’m fine now. You are holding me too tight. I can’t breathe," I squealed.

"Sorry," Andrea mumbled meekly. I stared at both of them with a smile on my face. I still haven’t thanked them for convincing my mum. Without them, I wouldn’t be here.

"Why are you staring at us like that?" Jade asked curiously.

"Why are you frie
