Chapter 26

The moment I realized that I was pregnant with Vince’s child, I felt a little scared. I had never been pregnant before in my life, and I didn’t really understand what it meant to have a child with someone you love.

“Vince, I think I am pregnant,” I announced to Vince when I was sure that I had not seen my period for quite a number of days now.

“Are you really sure about what you are saying, Laura?” Vince looked deeply into my eyes before adding, “Don’t you think it is too early for you to get pregnant? We just recently got married, and we are yet to celebrate a year of marriage.”

I nervously played with my fingers, glancing down at the pregnancy test I had just taken. “I’m pretty certain, Vince. I mean, I’ve never missed my period like this before.”

Vince sighed, a mix of surprise and concern etching his face. “Well, this is unexpected. But, hey, it’s a good surprise, right?”

I chuckled nervously, “Yeah, I guess so. It’s just… it’s a lot to take in.”
