I sat in the candlelit room, dressed in white linen, waiting for Lucas. This was the mating hut, the place where Lucas and I would commemorate our mating. I had worked hard to reach this point, and I was determined to make the most of it.

I was willing to do anything to make sure I didn’t lose to someone like Winter.
