Chapter 7

The whole pack felt it the moment it happened.

Selene raced out of Michael’s room with him not far behind, begging the goddess as she ran to not let what she was feeling be true.

There was a pool of tears already forming in her eyes, but she refused to let them drop.

It can’t be. It’s not true.

She ran past pack members who were also in a hurry towards the same destination she was headed.

The painful howl reverberated through the pack lands again, chilling the bones of everyone who heard it. It spoke of pain and agony. The sound was heart-wrenching, proving what she was scared of to be true.

She skidded to a stop as she got to her house. The sight that greeted her brought her to her knees.

Her strong father, who had always looked indomitable, crumbled on the ground in pain that seemed to resonate from the inside, releasing heart-wrenching sobs. He released another painful howl that finally burst the dam that Selene kept locked up.
