Chapter 11

As the sun rose and a new day began, Katy was tasked with making strong coffee to bring happiness back into Emma's life.

The woman wished the other good morning when she finally woke up and enjoyed drinking the hot liquid with her eyes still swollen from crying the night before that had lasted for many hours.

Emma didn't say a word when she finished her drink. But she showered for the first time since the day before and even washed her hair. Katy knew there was a risk of her crying again in the shower, but she was surprised when she saw Katy come out of the bathroom with her chin held high. Emma dried her hair and changed into clean clothes. It wasn't one of her tight dresses, she didn't want to draw attention to it, but she put on a sweat suit, put on a little makeup and said decisively:
