Chapter 53
Riley's POV
I think part of me knew that there was no way my mother would listen to me but I still tried to meet with her. I had no idea how long I had waited for. I caught glimpses of her when she came to change her clothes for whatever party she was planning on attending next.
I was starving but I persevered even if it irked me that she was playing games with me. I was about to give up when she finally strolled into her own home looking so exhausted.
"Martha, get me a cup of water and something nice." She called her housekeeper and maid.
I watched as the woman scurried away to get what my mother had requested.
"Mum," I called out.
"Oh, Riley. I never knew you were still here." She told me with a small smile.
I fought the eyeroll I was about to give her as a reply. I had been waiting here for over six hours and she was just now pretending like she had never seen me here. Or rather, she thought I wouldn't be waiting for her.
