Chapter 33. An Unexpected Trip
“Fuck,” Alexander banged his palm against his steering wheel, a car tucked safely in the parking lot of the hospital.
He felt the disgust crawl through his body, making him wish he had made them pay for what they’d done.
Luckily for them, time was not on his side.
He walked through the hallway of the hospital, eyes as hard as steel and hands fisted to his side as he strutted through, slipping into the hospital room.
The heart monitor was steadily beating while Isabella lay there, shrunken and almost lifeless. Her face had grown pale, cheekbones sunken, and arms gangly.
“Hey.”
The new voice greeted from the corner of the room.
Alexander’s eyes slowly traveled there, meeting with that of Jane’s.
“Flight landed early,” she explained.
Nodding, Alexander slumped on the couch. “Great.”
“You don’t look so great,” Jane eyed him, her hand entwined in Isabella’s cold ones.
Contemplating for a while, Alexander narrated the event
