Chapter 6

Dusk neared when the pig was cleaned, and a thick wooden pole was immediately inserted. The four men carried the pig by the fire, the two younger boys turning it over the heat and letting it roast for dinner. Michail stared with hunger in his eyes, soon realizing that he was not able to fill his stomach ever since he had woken up to begin his trial.

The exhaustion, the heat, the struggle, and the hunger he felt throughout the day must have been a part of the goddess's trial.

As the five of them ate to their heart’s content underneath the glittering stars and the serene ocean, Michail could not help but wonder where Aphrodite was and when she was going to show herself to him once again. His thoughts were filled with only the goddess herself even until they had finished most of the roasted pig and the family decided to return to their home to have their rest.
