Chapter 27. You’re Just Like Him
So I just stood there, my heart pounding in my chest and my breathing heavy.
Before I knew it, the door made a sound, and that was enough to pull me out of my head. I took a step back as it was opened.
My mother stepped out looking like she was heading somewhere important. She was wearing something formal, a small smile on her face until she noticed me.
“Um…hi,” I said nervously as I chuckled weakly.
She frowned tightly, running her eyes over me before speaking. “What are you doing here?”
“We need to talk,” I said, and she scoffed.
“I have nothing to talk to you about, Sara,” she replied, stepping past me and walking away.
“It’s about Lisa!” I exclaimed, and that stopped her.
