Chapter 31. His Obsession

Silence.

It was quiet as the tension rose steadily. My heart was pounding in my chest and I was scared of what was about to happen next. It was like the calm before the storm.

“Give it to me,” Giveon said in a calm voice, despite how crazy his eyes were. “Give it to me, Maddie.”

Maddie released a shaky breath. “I’m not doing that. Sara chose to take the money, she doesn’t want anything to do with you.”

“That’s because you gaslighted her into believing that. You told her lies about me!” He raised his voice a bit, but then he closed his eyes and sighed through his nostrils before opening them again. It was clear that he was trying so hard to handle the situation in a better way. “Please give me the check, Maddie. I really don’t have the time for this.”
