Cassandra eyed the flowers that surrounded the patio, where she was with interest. It was almost midday; the sky was bright and a little bit sunny, but there was a cool, gentle breeze that ruffled through her hair and chiffon dress. A faint, enticing smell lingered in the air, and while she didn’t want to focus on it, she couldn’t get her mind off the time she had gotten too close to the poppies.

Poppies. According to trusty Wikipedia, they were used in making syrups and stuff because they acted as a good pain reliever. But then there was the type that was banned.

Op**m poppies.

While she didn’t think Andino would be breaking the law and that even if he was, he wouldn’t be stupid enough to do so with so much exposure, she couldn’t help but wonder what kind of poppies were in his garden.

They looked nothing like normal poppies. And they had a certain feel to them, especially when she drew close. A warm, sleepy feeling.
