“The jailers, sir. There’s no way they’d claim not to be aware that something like that was about to happen!”
“What do you mean? Cases like this happen, and it’s quite possible for the jailer not to be aware! You shouldn’t speak like that!” The mayor chided his secretary, who had her hands clasped under her breasts.
“Sir, the prison here isn’t quite a large one in comparison to others in the state, and the security it boasts of is more than half of what big prisons have. That’s my point. There’s just no way. Probably the people had bribed jailers into keeping their mouths sealed.”
“What’s my schedule for today? Busy?” He asked as he slumped into his chair with exhaustion. He had only returned from New York the previous night and hadn’t even rested one bit.
“Not so busy, sir. Today’s Saturday, remember?”
“Oh, I forgot. That’s good. I’d like to visit the facility immediately after I’m done meeting the representatives from New York.”
