Chapter 173. Broken Mugs

Leah’s POV

The cold air of the room filled my nose, and my hands were shaking by my sides as I stared at the TV, the reporter still spewing words that I no longer could hear because I was in a state of shock.

My throat was blocked and my mouth was incredibly dry. My heart was thundering in my chest like I had run a marathon. My palms were sweaty and my breath came in ragged and uneven.

“Leah…?” The voice of my mom filled the air and I blinked faster than normal for a few seconds before turning towards her. “What the hell is going on? Why did I just watch footage of you cleaning up a crime scene?”

I kept staring at her. I opened my mouth to speak but I didn’t even know how I was going to explain this to her. But I knew that I had to figure out how. She deserved the truth, and it was only a matter of time before I would get taken away.

I ignored the mess on the floor and took a step closer to the bed, making sure to sit next to her.
