Chapter 7. I Promise You
When Penelope saw the father and son hugging each other, she felt a lingering warmth in her heart. Dylan had a real smile on her face. A father who has longed for his son for years, and Elijah, who has been unaware of his father’s identity since birth. Seeing the two was worth the confession.
Penelope couldn’t hide her joy; Elijah had finally seen his biological father after six years, and the guilt that had been nagging her was now gone.
“You did an excellent job, darling.” Penelope grinned as she heard Lucas behind her. He placed his hand in her arms, and the guests inside the restaurant, particularly the women, couldn’t help but frown when they saw a lovely gentleman beside her.
“Thank you, Lucas, for guiding me to do the right thing and for not abandoning me during the process.” Penelope leaned her head against Lucas’ chest.
“It’s my pleasure,” he murmured as he kissed the back of her hand.
