Chapter 68. Catharsis (3)
Hadley was greeted by a hole of darkness the moment she entered the house. She felt the emptiness; the pain was bleeding raw. As she slumped against the couch, scenes from that confrontation with Jethro still lingered in her mind. She heard what she wanted to hear from him; he was honest to the bones. She should be happy, right? God forbid, she’s not. The thought of not seeing him anymore was killing her inside.
She was still grieving for her broken love affair when a nasty sound slithered through her ears. Tensed, she scurried to turn the lights on and was surprised at what she saw. There on the other side of the couch, a man was asleep, laying on his stomach. Hadley watched him quietly. She’s wondering what’s with this couch that he always ends up sleeping here.
“Hmm,” Benedict moaned, inaudible.
She gently tapped him on the shoulder and whispered, “Benedict, you’re snoring again. Hey, you need to wake up.” She held his free arm and waggled it slowly.
