Chapter 12

Layla lay on the floor sobbing. A black car was parked across the street. She looked up to see what was going on. Then, a few seconds later, she saw Justin come out of the car running towards her.

“Hey, Layla,” he said, standing in front of her.

“How did you know I was here?” she asked curiously.

“I lied about where I was going,” he said instantly.

“Why?” Layla said, puzzled at his response.

“I had a feeling my brother would have left you at the hospital. He has a hot temper, and he is capable of being cruel, especially when he dislikes someone,” he said, then paused for a while to give her time to process the information.

“But when I saw everyone leaving, I was surprised. I decided to still follow you because I felt something was off. I am glad I followed my instincts; he is even more sinister than I thought,” he said as he stretched his hand out for her to stand up and follow him.

Layla and Justin walk towards his car and enter it.
