Chapter 7

“Dad?! How did you get here?” Jack said anxiously as he turned towards the entrance of the door. The man in a white suit walks towards Jack and then stops in his tracks to stare at Jack and Layla intensively.

“Well, Jack, we needed you to perform an impromptu speech on behalf of your brother who is running late and one of the ushers told us you were here,” he said calmly.

“Okay, Dad,” Jack said sternly, trying to get his arrogant composure back.

“Though from what I heard, this young lady is pregnant with your child, and you plan to send her away,” he said, then paused for a while. “I know why you did this, son. You are betrothed to someone, you got a stranger pregnant, and you know the rules in the family about getting married if a child is born out of wedlock. Unfortunately, we can’t have an illegitimate child in our family, son,” he said as he placed his hand on Jack’s shoulder.
