Chapter 39. The Truth

Ethan’s POV

With Emma in my arms nothing seems to matter. Not the fact that Daniel kissed her. Not the fact that my father is in the hospital. And not the fact that the year is almost up. A knock on the office door interrupts our embrace. Quickly I wipe the tears that are falling from my eyes before anyone can notice.

“Come in,” I say as I let go of Emma.

The door swings open and the nurse is standing on the other side with a small grin on her face. “Your father is out of recovery and you may see him now.”

Grabbing Emma by the hand I pull her out of the room before the nurse stops us. “The Alpha has requested that you come alone,” she gestures to Emma slightly.

I squeeze Emma’s hand, not wanting to let her go, but Emma squeezes mine back. I look deeply into her green eyes and they sparkle with unshed tears. “It will be okay,” she whispers and lets go of my hand.

I follow the nurse out of the office. Looking back over my shoulder I look back
