Chapter 14

Mia’s Pov:

After eating, I lay on the bed and watched the roof above. There was nothing else to do. We could not discuss the incident. Mady was seated on the bed, and Brenda laid on hers. We were all awake except Lisa. I worried about her. But because Mo said she would be fine, I trust she will.

I just wondered what we would explain doing in the woods. The door flung open, and my heart skipped a beat when Dominick, Jason, and Derek came in.

There was no point pretending to be asleep because they had seen us. And even if they had not, for how long will we pretend?

Dominick moved straight to Brenda’s bed.

“How are you feeling?” he asked her softly.

“I am feeling very much better,” she replied.

“Does your head still hurt so much?”

“Just a little,” she said.

I looked at Mady to see her expression though I was sure the last thing on her mind at that moment was how Dominick was talking lovingly to Brenda.

“She is still not awake?
