Chapter 9
As I continued to wait for Abe to come back with the drinks, I looked past the little crowd covering the bar and saw him talking to a girl. Did he perhaps forget about me?
“Elizabeth, you okay?” Lucia asked me as she let go of a guy’s hand. I turned her attention to Abe. She looked at her brother and then back to me with a strange grin.
“You jealous?” she said.
“Eww! N-nope,” I stammered, turning as I looked again at her brother.
“Shut up, Elizabeth. I’ve seen you look at him; you like my brother,” she said, holding my hand. “Come with me,” Lucia said as we both walked toward the bar, where Abe was talking to a girl.
We made our way, squeezing past the horny crowd. On getting to the bar, the girl Abe was with turned, and that seemed to get his attention. He looked behind, meeting Lucia and me standing with our hands intertwined.
“Oh! Elizabeth, I’m so sorry,” he said, trying to call the bartender, acting up.
