Chapter 3
Anyway, I still have three months with the company and my decision to venture into another industry is irrevocable. Also, I really want to finish at least one story.
I ran out of time to reflect and the coffee got cold because I didn't pay attention to him for a while. I just brewed something new because I didn't want to go back to sleep. I will seriously consider finding a guest in the extra room at home.
I have added details to the website to make it easier to notice and I have also uploaded pictures. My friend who is also renting an extra room said that I will just wait for the booking.
It's almost four o'clock and I still haven't heard from Karl. I tried to call him again but his number is still out of coverage. I just gave up and forced myself not to think too much about the man.
I was about to go up to the second floor when someone rang the doorbell. I was suddenly nervous because I didn't expect any visitors. However, I slowly approached the door and felt who was outside.
When the doorbell rang again, I opened the window to peek at who was outside and my eyes widened when I recognized the person outside.
I quickly opened the door and ran to the gate. "Hon, what happened?" I immediately asked him when he entered.
"It's a mess at home today, can I sleep here first now? It's the weekend, huh."
"Are you sure you can just sleep?" I asked him.
"Promise, just sleep."
"Eh, don't just go home if you're going to sleep," I said while frowning.
He pinched my side and said, "Here, you're not kidding."
"I thought so, eh." I was still frowning as I faced him.
"Oh, come on, don't be cute with me. Hmmm hon, thank you earlier, huh."
"There's nothing," I said.
"You're really smart," he said and immediately kissed me on the cheek.
When he kissed me, I endured his alcohol-smelling breath. "Would you like some coffee?" I offered him but the man shook his head and refused the coffee.
"I want to eat some fish, do you have stock?"
I understood why he craved fish soup because he had been drinking. "There is," I replied and he smiled.
"You just picked it up quickly, didn't you?"
“Yup!”
"Okay, I'll play one game in ML while you cook."
I just bit my lip at what he said. At two o'clock in the morning, he borrowed money from me, then he came suddenly without even texting, then ordered me to cook a fish soup because he had been drinking. "Enjoy, I'll call you when it's ready," I said and he gave me a wide smile.
My steps back to the kitchen were heavy. When I opened the fridge, I took out a Tupperware that I filled with fresh jackfish. I just bought it last night because I went to the market after coming home from work.
While I was boiling water, I also prepared the soup ingredients. Only then will I put the fish and spices when the water boils so as not to overcook the fish?
I have also made some rice for both of us and I think I will also have breakfast early. Thirty minutes later I called him so we could eat.
"Wait a minute, the game isn't over yet!" The good man answered from the living room.
Actually, I just realized that he has gone too far. Maybe Karl thought that because I love him, I babysat him, I can't live without him.
I love him but there is a limit to that and he has trampled on my character several times. Time to ditch the guy and find someone new. Maybe Karl Rosales thought I was going to cry because something happened to us.
While waiting for him to finish playing, I set the table and prepared our breakfast. "Is that still long?"
"We're at the enemy's base, hon!"
"Okay," I said.
After the game, he immediately went to the table and happily ate the soup I cooked. "Is it delicious?" I asked him.
"Yes, it's good, but you're better."
I had heard that from him before but it just wasn't there for me. "Go ahead and eat a lot," I said to him with a smile. I'm good at cooking that's why I didn't hire an assistant anymore and I could clearly see on Karl's face that he enjoyed the food. As for me, I could barely swallow what I ate because I was so annoyed.
"You cook really well, hon!"
I just smiled at him and didn't say anything. "Just a moment and I'm just going to get something from the room," I said goodbye to the man and immediately stood up.
When I returned to the dining room, Karl had already eaten the fruit I had prepared and didn't even bother me. He is a sales manager and I know that his salary is also high but when he looks at it, he looks like a beggar.
What did I see in him before? His sweetness in the chat? He always said good morning, good afternoon, and good evening. The one with heart emojis in his good night text? Which one is there? Or his being gifted and being good in bed?
"Hon, do you still remember the first time we met?" I asked him and when he frowned as if he didn't remember that day, I became even more determined to let him go. We've only been together for three months so it's impossible for him to forget that day when we bumped into each other at Mcdo and the chicken fillet he ordered ala king spilled. Of course, I changed that and even freed his friends.
"Of course! Your poor burger steak fell to the floor," he said and then laughed out loud.
Even though he was laughing loudly, I still heard the taxi stop outside the house. "If you're done eating, you can leave. The taxi is waiting outside,” I told him and he was obviously surprised by what I said. Jaw-dropping, eh? "Here's your fare and don't show me anymore."
"Hon, why? Have I done something wrong?”
"Maybe. Just ask yourself later," I said and immediately left him on the table. I opened the door and also the light on the balcony so that the driver could see us in case he did something undesirable.
"I'll be back," the man promised.
"Just try it," I calmly answered him and immediately closed the door.
