Chapter 152. Hell Break Loose

Andrew still hadn’t decided how he was going to get Elaine to believe that he was sincere but he wasn’t leaving without her. He’d transplant his whole life to Kentwood just for her sake. He heard the gun reload behind him.

“Andrew?”

“I can’t leave,” he said the words as quickly as he could. He had to breach the gap between him and Elaine.

“Don’t shoot him.” Elaine stood in front of him.

He placed his hand on her shoulder. “What are you doing?”

“Get out Andrew. I don’t want you to die.”

His heart thundered in his chest. She would get between him and a gun? He could never expect that from even his own brother.

“I’m not leaving. You don’t have to protect me.” He came out from behind him but she stared up at him with a fearful look in her eyes.

“Please, Andrew.”

“A thousand cavities!” Pops replaced the safety latch of the gun and placed it back on a shelf. “I’m not going to shoot him.”

Elaine turned to him, almost jumping. “Now
