Chapter 12. Wicked Smile
Lucien freezes and swallows a lump of spittle as he hears what Juliet just said. For the very first time, he finds himself lost for words as he stands there, staring at Juliet who coldly stares back at him.
Juliet thinks Lucien doesn’t take her seriously so she raises the knife about to slit her wrist.
"Juliet!" Lucien screams, raising his hands above his head in surrender but still doesn’t leave.
Juliet stops just before the knife touches her skin.
"I’m really serious," she says again.
"Okay fine," Lucien exhales, "I’ll leave but please, put the knife down," he takes three steps backward. He tries to say something again but Juliet grits her teeth, showing him the knife.
Seeing this, he sighs and quietly steps out of the room.
Mrs. Avery twists and turns on her bed. She can’t bring herself to sleep after what happened earlier today.
