Chapter 131. The Vanishing Act

Victor’s eyes darkened, his usual composure slipping for a moment. 

He stepped forward, his presence intimidating, commanding the room as he demanded, “What do you mean, ‘vanished’? Where the hell is he?”

The man’s hands trembled as he spoke. “We don’t know, sir. We searched the entire building. His cell was empty, no sign of him anywhere. We’ve checked the surveillance footage, but…” He hesitated, glancing around as if expecting someone to appear, “…the footage from last night…it’s gone. Someone wiped it.”

The air in the room thickened. Anna’s breath caught in her throat, and she could feel the blood drain from her face. 

She couldn’t believe it either. She had done all of this just so Zac could disappear? “But… how? Who could have done that?” Her voice was shaky, though she tried to keep it steady.
