Chapter 24. Sapphire Under a Threat
After hearing Daisy's words, Sapphire waited every day for Denver, but he never came. Days passed into weeks and weeks passed into months. He didn't come, and neither did her dad after that last exchange between them. She and Francis continued like before, since she didn't get to break off with him. He had kissed her once or twice, but since her response was cold, he judged her pointing out how cold she was.
Last month, he had taken her home to meet his parents. They didn't like her at all. They hated her all the more after learning that she was a cop's daughter. When she told Daisy, she was aghast.
"Why would they hate you? Unless they are into something illegal," said Daisy with an eye roll.
"Whatever. I'm never going to his house again," said Sapphire.
"Why don't you break off with him?" asked a pissed-off Daisy.
"He doesn't listen even when I tell him. He keeps pestering me," said Sapphire, massaging her forehead.
So life went on for Sapphire
