“Kaden, what is the meaning of this? Your wife’s shacking up with hunters? Could this get any worse?” Dad rubbed his forehead.

Mom looked like she needed a drink. So did I.

We left the pack house and locked ourselves in Dad’s old office, which was behind the house. We didn’t want eavesdroppers. The five of us crammed into the office.

“Someone explain to me who this man is and why Gabriella is involved with hunters? They came for her the other day, and I wondered why they didn’t do anything to her,” Mom demanded.

Dad snapped his head in her direction. “You knew about hunters and didn’t say anything?”

Mom rolled her eyes. She thought the hunters would kill her. It hurt to think my Mom, a powerful wolf in her own right, would allow Gabbie to face hunters alone.

“I’m Erik Chambers, and Gabbie is my daughter. Mine and Adrianna's. I need to find her. Gabbie isn’t a hunter. She doesn’t want that life.”
