Athena left last night, but she made sure I had more than enough to eat the next day. Kade didn’t want to leave me, but he couldn’t run the pack from our couch. Emery and Leigh were coming over, which made him comfortable enough to leave me.

It didn’t take the girls long to get there. Emery was a fidgety mess. She wrapped me in her arms and squeezed.

“I can’t believe someone tried to hurt you like that. I feel awful. I didn’t smell any poison on the bottles you took.”
