“Good news?” she offered.

“Yeah, okay. Let’s hear it,” I replied.

“We have intel that the Creed doesn’t have her and think you have her. So, they’ll stop looking for Kate while coming for Scarlett.”

“Well, the last part isn’t so good,” I groaned. The manhunt for Scarlett would mean an extra burden on me, as I’d have to be with her a lot, even though she was in the safe house. The building was not totally impregnable.

“One more thing,” she said over the phone in her usual low tenor, which made the receiver pulse in my ears.
