Chapter 55. Park Kiss

"W-what do you want?" Mika stammered, her gaze riveted on the gun, which appeared to be heavy in the stranger's grasp. 

The man's gaze flashed over the crowded street. His words reached her ears, laced with a malicious edge. "I just want to scare you, sweetheart, to show you that there is no place safe, and to stop hurting other people's feelings." 

Mika's mind raced, looking for a way out, but her body seemed immobilized. Her chest pounded, threatening to drown out any sensible thought. She needed to get out, she needed to survive this confrontation. She recalls what Emily had said to her earlier.

"Is this where I'm going to be shot?" she wondered as she felt her heart pounding. 

"Please, you don't have to do this," Mika said, her voice shaking. "There's no reason to hurt me; I'm not going to tell anyone about it, and... what do you mean by hurting other people's feelings? I have no idea." 

The man tightened his hold on the revolver
