Chapter 66. A Heated Talk

Jacob’s face had a mix of confusion and annoyance. “Wait, what? Help? Are you f*cking kidding me right now?”

Maddie swallowed, the tears in her eyes spilling. She was pissed at him but she was not supposed to say something like that to him. She had obviously triggered him. Jacob did not know that his mom had told her about his past and a lot of sensitive things and she wanted to keep it that way.

If he ever found out, Maddie could only imagine the chaos that would unfold. “It’s fine, don’t raise your voice at me,” She replied, sniffling and wiping her face before trying to leave. “I have to go.”

As she walked out of the cafe, she prayed that he would not follow her but when she looked back, she saw that Jacob was heading towards her. He probably had already paid the waitress.

Her heart thumped in her chest and she increased her pace, trying to head back to the Omega House. One thing she regretted was why she didn’t bring the bicycle.
